The tiger that was captured at Gama village near Shikaripura, Shimogga district was released into Bhadra Tiger Reserve. The animal which was about four years old had all its canine intact and had no physical injuries. It was in perfect condition for a translocation. On 07-05-2011 it was released in Hipla meadows which once had a paddy fields before the village was relocated.

As the cage door was opened the animal waited and looked around for a minute before it decided to jump out. However it did not run towards the meadows but immediately turned around ran towards bushes, a natural instinct to find cover.

Dispersing young male tigers are known to range over wide areas in search of territories. Hence we hope this young male will establishes a new home in Bhadra. We wish the very best.
